Domestic companies set to show off new AI-based technologies at 'CES 2024' next month

(SEOUL) By Han Sang-yong, Jang Ha-na and Oh Kyu-jin = Korean companies are gearing up for the world's largest consumer electronics and IT show, CES 2024, to be held in Las Vegas next January.

Not only home appliance makers such as Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics, but also major domestic companies such as SK, Hyundai Motor and Kia are expected to showcase new technologies.

◇ SMEs and startups take over... innovation awards


The strength of SMEs and startups is expected to continue next year.

According to the Korea Information and Communication Technology Industry Association, more than 600 Korean SMEs and startups will participate in CES 2024.

As of the first count, they take over eight CES Best Innovation Awards and 143 Innovation Awards, the most of any participating country.


Blockchain startup Zkrypto, co-founded by Hanyang University professor Oh Hyun-ok and Kookmin University professor Kim Ji-hye, won the CES Best Innovation Award for the second year in a row.


Zkrypto's blockchain online voting system, zkVoting, was named by CTA at CES 2023 as one of the "three technologies that will solve the problems facing humanity".


Roadsystem, which created TripPass, an identification application that foreign tourists can easily use, and Tenminds, which created Motion Pillow, a snoring relief pillow, will unveil technologies that have won the Best Innovation Award at CES.

Gaudio Lab, invested by NAVER's startup incubator D2 Startup Factory (D2SF), will showcase Just Voice, a real-time noise cancellation solution.

In addition, Retinal, an augmented reality (AR) optical lens specialist, Buren Technology, a LiDAR solution specialist, Quilt Lab, which makes AI food scanners, and Tunip, which has developed more than 100 AI persona chatbots, will showcase their technologies.
