On the last day of CES 2024, the world's largest consumer electronics and IT exhibition being held in Las Vegas, the crowds at startup booths were bustling on the 12th (local time). At Eureka Park, located inside the Venetian Expo, more than 2,000 startups from around the world gathered to show off the technologies they have been developing for the past year.
According to the U.S. Consumer Technology Society (CTS), the organiser of CES, this year's show had more startups than ever before. Startups from Korea, the U.S., Japan, the Netherlands, France, and other countries have set up shop in their respective areas to welcome visitors.
Korean startups represented more than 500 of the total startups. That's a quarter of the total 2,000 startups. The Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) organised the Startup Family to support the participation of various startups.
At CES, there were also startups that won the Best Innovation Award. 'zkrypto', which has a blockchain-based voting system technology, was recognised for its technology by winning the Best Innovation Award this year after winning it last year. zkrypto is a solution that uses blockchain to visually verify voting and counting.
As it can be verified in person, it is said to be more reliable and secure. He explained that there has been a lot of interest in improving the voting system, which has become unreliable, especially after the controversy over the manipulation of the idol voting system.
"We received positive feedback from our participation in CES," said Seolryong Kim, a senior researcher at zkrypto. "We received a lot of interest from people at home and abroad, and we will be able to resolve the pain points caused by the voting through follow-up meetings."
