'CES 2024' swept Korean startups... Which ones won innovation awards?
Korean ventures and startups swept the innovation awards at the world's largest electronics show (CES) for the second year in a row. Startups in various fields from artificial intelligence (AI) to financial technology, security, drones, and healthcare won awards. The number of startups winning CES innovation awards has been increasing year after year.
According to the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) on the 26th, 143 Korean companies were among the 310 winners of the CES 2024 Innovation Awards announced so far. Korean companies accounted for 46 per cent of the total number of companies that won the Innovation Awards this year.
The CES Innovation Awards are presented by the U.S. Consumer Technology Association (CTA), the organiser of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, U.S., to products with outstanding technology, design, and innovation from around the world. The Innovation Awards are very important for companies looking to expand internationally. Not only is it an internationally recognised indicator of a product's technical prowess, but it also helps to increase brand awareness and credibility.

Some startups have won the Most Innovative Award two years in a row. The Best Innovation Award is only given to products that score higher among the Innovation Award products.
Blockchain technology startup zkrypto won the Best Innovation Award for the second year in a row for its blockchain-based online voting system, zkVoting (Poll Station). zkVoting is a system that securely delivers votes without disclosing the voter's identity and voting details, and is said to have complemented the problems of the existing offline polling station system, such as preventing possible election manipulation.
Meanwhile, seven Korean startups have received the Best Innovation Award at CES 2024, surpassing last year's record (five).
In addition to zkrypto, Toptable (3D food printing system 'Ink'), Mandro (robotic finger for partial amputee), TenMinds (snoring relief system 'Motion Pillow'), StudioLab (AI-based commerce creation solution 'CellarCanvas'), Roadsystem (TripPass mobile passport platform), and OneCom (smartphone communicator for the visually impaired) received the Best Innovation Award.
